Skyhook recently took part in the “BIG” Golf Tournament to support Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay at Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, MA. Dan Gill, SVP Advertising Ecosystem at Skyhook, who was a Big Brother in Boston for 12 years, founded this event and serves as its chair. He also leads Skyhook’s involvement in the event.
This year's tournament was dedicated in memory of Daquan Burrell, a Little Brother in the program who was lost tragically this past January. Daquan was matched to his Big Brother Tim, a member of the golf committee, for nearly 10 years. Over 45 foursomes came together to support this year's event and remember Daquan.
The BIG Golf Tournament started in 2003 for Bigs, along with their friends and colleagues, to join together for a day of golf to benefit BBBSMB. Since its inception, the tournament has played an integral role in helping the agency serve Bigs and Littles to reach more children in Boston's highest-risk communities and match them with a reliable mentor.
This was Skyhook’s third consecutive year sponsoring the event. Including Dan, Skyhook had 10 team members and another 12 partners and customers participate in the tournament. Overall, the tournament raised over $65,000 gross this year and has helped raise over $500,000 over the past 15 years. "Sponsoring the BIG Golf Tournament offers us a chance to pay it forward", says Karl Holzthum, Skyhook's CSMO.
